In January 20-29, 2012 I went to the village of Nuevo Amanecer in Honduras with Agros (see www.agros.org) and Bethany Presbyterian Church. My first trip to Honduras and my fourth trip to Central America with Agros. The team arrived in the middle of a spiritual battle that were happening in the village. Briefly, the week before we arrived in the village, a 19 year old girl died from kidney failure. Before she died, she was taken to the hospital for treatment (dialysis). She got better and was released. At home, she vomited a huge black, blood clot. The parents said that she threw up a live "toad". The toad leaped out of her mouth. They caught it and threw it in into the fire where the toad exploded. The girl went into a coma and died. Before she died, the girl told authorities that she was given a magical tea by her aunt in the village and that she did, in fact, throw-up a toad. When we arrived, the girl was just buried and the village believed that the aunt was a witch and wanted her removed from the village. Agros refused, saying that this woman was a hard working member of the community and she was not a witch. There was a lot of spiritual warfare going on while we were there. Praise God for the prayers of the saints! We worked with the village toward a goal of peace and reconciliation.
The photos are of me leading a Spanish BINGO game, planting seeds in a watermelon field (wearing a skirt) and our team with a Central American interpreter.
